Pull it down (so you can see the blank space) and start chatting with some
people.
You'll notice that every chat window you have open is listed there,
including the number of unread messages. Clicking on a name instantly
brings forward that window. Very clever little thing. Once you figure it
out, you'll find you start using it quite a bit.
