I also checked out the bug thread
http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=1377
and did what you suggested:
enabling all firebug panels for a site,
then look at the tooltip value on the orange icon,
then close that site, and open a different site without any firebug
enabled.
Is the icon grey? What is the tooltip?
So this is what happened:
Opened Firefox browser
All panels in firebug off - Status Orange - Tooltip text "Firebug
1.3.0"
Navigated to http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=1377
Enabled all firebug panels - Status Orange - Tooltip text "Firebug
1.3.0 activated by 1 page(s)
Closed the tab and navigated to www.yahoo.com
All panels in firebug off - Status Orange - Tooltip text "Firebug
1.3.0"
(Please note I have Yslow on it still ran even though it looked
like everything was off)
