You got it right, I think. I just was writing the correct steps so we could discard any problems with the instructions. As Mike says sometimes it won't work, but installing the latest alpha, and then removing the folder and replacing it with the file will work. That not only happens in Vista, also in XP and Linux, maybe firefox writes an internal config or something.
