John Barton: firefox.exe worked normally from its installation location (given below). Within the components subdirectory there are three files named "inspector:" inspector.dll, inspector.xpt, and inspector-cmdline.js . They are all dated 9/15/2005. I (re)moved them (to another directory) and re-ran FF under the firebug-installed profile, and still get the same thing with the embedded panes, but when I bring up the detached firebug window, I now get this!:
http://tinypic.com/r/de8imo/5 Progress, TY! [The selections activate (provide feedback), but do not operate (perform any function.) Oh, and the firebug menu option under the Firefox "Tools" menu is still DEactivated....] Information applying to other responses: 1) Firefox (with firebug) is installed in my Windows profile directory: C:\Documents and Settings\<Me>\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox If installation location has anything to do with it, then, frankly, something is broken with the software, not the user. This is modern programming here.... 2) As I mentioned, I have created and deleted several new profiles in which to try Firebug, all to no avail. 3) Reinstalling Firefox is not an option. (Certainly not, if it involves affecting profile contents in any way....) If this is a problem that occurs regularly then the software should have some form of "installation verification" capability built in. ("Love ya, Unix!") [If you're talking about saving off my profiles, wiping the Mozilla Firefox directory and then re-instating my profiles, I might be willing to give that a try... IF you think it will fix this, John Barton....] -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Firebug" group. To post to this group, send email to [email protected].
