Having a second look at your videos I saw, that there are elements with
classes including "interclue", which I didn't have. So I did a quick search
and found out, that this is another Firefox extension. And this extension is
changing the website while hovering links. So Interclue is causing this
behavior.

My fault that I have to confess, that I did not know about the HTML
> Panel options.

You're not the only one. We already had a long
discussion<http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=3457>about how to
improve their visibility.

Great. You could further help us by creating a new
issue<http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/entry>mentioning, that highlighting
changes, expanding them and scrolling to them
should be blocked while inspecting plus adding a little test case with step
by step instructions including the installation of Interclue. As soon as
that issue is done then the problem you described should not appear anymore.

No, it is off by
default<http://code.google.com/p/fbug/source/browse/branches/firebug1.9/defaults/preferences/firebug.js?spec=svn12045&r=12020#68>
.
