Hi :
Eventhough this is not a security question i will try to help
you out.
If you have already installed win98 in your machine the little program
named fips ( that comes in the RedHat cd ) will not be able to work.
You'll see , this program works like the defrag program in MS. So what it
basically does is rearrange all the information that is stored in your
hard drive, gets it together, a sort of compressess it to the first part
of your hard drive ( so you can get all your programs placed within a
certain part of your drive ) without removing or deleting any information
that you may have , so it sounds like repartitioning your hard drive
without deleting your information . The sad part of this is, that fips
does not work with fat32 partitions ( at least not the fips version that I
have) so what you will have to do is the following:
Get a new partition for your hdd assignig one for win98 and leaving the
rest for linux ( make sure you get enough space for both win98 an linux ).
Then reinstall win98 and all your programs in your win98 partition.
When you are done, get your linux cd or whatever means that you have for
installing linux . It will guide you through the process. The main thing
that you have to do is install the lilo boot in the first section of your
hard drive's boot partition so that it can get the dual boot and assing a
label to the OS that you have ( by default the win98 partition will be
named dos and linux one linux ).
Hope this helps.
