The main reason I can see we need the hackers is so our
systems are more secure so when our governments and/or
corporations decide to do some illegal checking up on us
they can't do it as easily.

I'd like to know what your stance on this statement is
after you've had to rebuild a mission critical system
after a hacker trashed you DB tables.

I hate to break it to ya, but the war on drugs is failing
miserably. Why is it failing so badly, because there is
great money to be made selling illegal commodities. Alcohol
Prohibition also had this same failure.
Theft (the only one of these analogies that makes sense) is down
because we put better security systems into our homes and businesses.
We should also do this with computers, all computers.
And finally on to witchcraft. I won't digress into this as I
could rant on for days on this. I'll just say: So much violence
and hate spread because of a change of the word poisoner to witch
in a translation of the bible. And if your wondering, Witchcraft
is perfectly legal in the US and many other countries. It falls
under Freedom of Religion.
In the future, please think through what your are using as
analogies. You only mannaged to bat 333. While that may be
good for baseball, it's lousy for getting one's point across.
