Secure them _against_what_?

Against some threats, locking them in a vault is a great protection.

For some jobs, it's nice to have one of those cable lock gizmos.

I like to have Linux as the only OS on my laptop, and I weed out all the
unneeded services, and add a nice ipchains based packet filtering script.

If you're worried about the computer being stolen and the contents of its hard
drive read, a crypto filesystem is probably the best call. Which one would
depend on exactly how you want to access it. Think backups here.
