Key operative words here are "if correctly configured". Never
lose sight of that!
Many of us find that attempting to "correctly configure" NT is
an exercise in frustration and fraught with gotchas. I, personally,
would go the Linux route, but I'm high experienced there. I could,
with significantly more time and effort, perform the same task on
Windows NT. If you are more proficient at NT than Linux, then go with
Windows NT. If not, go the Linux route.
All things being equal, IMNSHO, Linux is the better way to go. I
think that modern distributions are much more secure OOB (Out Of the Box)
than Windows NT and can be made even more secure with stock proceedures
such as Bastille.
Go with Windows, if you are a Windows person and uncomfortable with
Linux/Unix.
If you are proficient in Unix in general and are not adverse to
complex systems, you might want to look at OpenBSD. OOB, it beats
everything else, hands down. You just need to be a guru to get it
installed and operating the first time.
