Ethernet Sniffing

Dear Guys,
        I have been looking at making up my own Ethernet tap / Ethernet
Splitter. I have had a couple of fudged goes at it using bread board but
with no success. Does anyone know where I would be able to get hold of
some schematics for building an Ethernet Tap?
