Carl,
#A helpful list member suggested I just run the private DNS server
#as a secondary for the domain and disable zone transfers. That way
#it should forward everything it doesn't know, including in the same
#domain... I hope! :)
A secondary name server is just as authoritative as a primary name server.
It knows that it has all of the information that exists for the zone it is
authoritative for and will never forward queries for that zone.
