Subject: Re: Firewall Rules Database

Some very interesting comments there guys, but I'm a little
disappointed with responses like "oh there is something like that in
book xxx" or "you can do a course on that at xxx". What I'm
proposing is a publically accessible site where anybody can
contribute content which is then checked by volunteers.

The idea of the Internet is to provide information, and I feel a site
like this would be of great value to the firewalls community as it
would provide a regularly updated reference on how to block or
allow certain applications on a variety of firewalls at no cost (unlike
buying books or attending courses). It would also reduce the
number of people or the amount of time taken by this list to answer
questions like "How do I block port XX on firewall YY?" so the list
can focus on some higher level topics/discussions.
