Version 2.4 is from November 8, 2016 (https://fishshell.com/) and 3.0.2 is from February 19, 2019. There have been a lot of changes between the two, some significant. You can see the list of changes at https://github.com/fish-shell/fish-shell/releases. > any advice gratefully received, I am reluctant to give advice to you about this, since it is a personal choice and a trade-off. I use Debian Stable myself (still version 9, I haven't upgraded to 10 yet), and I was definitely not happy with the 2.4 version and have been using the latest (currently 3.0.2) and I have been happy with it. One piece of advice that I can give is that you should always report your version when reporting a problem or asking for help. And if you report version 2.4, there will probably be people who will tell you that the first thing you should do is upgrade fish. In other words, it's easier to get support for the latest version. _______________________________________________ Fish-users mailing list Fish-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fish-users
