Hi Everybody from Carol Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm in Nova Scotia --
We're all very excited by two mares that have just arrived on
onsignment. -- Jaimie and Kelly (our trainers) say they are amongst the
nicest we've ever
had in on consignment. --
Rifona is an 8 yr. old mare imported from Holland. She's a daughter of the
Dutch Studbook stallion, Briggen, which makes her a half sister to our
fabulous driving school mare, Saskia. Those who have been to our Nova
Scotia Beginner Driving Vacations will remember driving Saskia. -- -
Rifona is like Saskia
in that she's an all-around, do everything, family-type mare. -- Rifona
is quiet, kind, willing, and patient. She's a very pleasant and dependable
ride with a love, soft mouth.
Very honestly, if Rifona turns out to be half the mare her half sister,
Saskia, is, then she's priceless! --
For instance, Saskia (also imported from Holland) is one of our four school
horses for the beginner driving vacation, and she has been since age
five. -- Saskia is one of our "beach horses" for the Wednesday Afternoon
Beach Parties ---Saskia is a wonderful mount for our riding lessons-
children or adults -- Saskia is totally dependable on the trail -- Saskia
is a vaulting horse -- Saskiahas been a therapeutic riding horse. -- In
fact, if at any time we need a totally dependable, pleasant horse for just
about any task, we choose Saskia. -- The new consignment mare, Rifona,
seems to be just like Saskia.
Rifona is a very pleasant riding horse, and has the temperament to be a good
driving horse. She is not a flashy mover, but then again, neither is our
treasured mare, Saskia, Rifona's half sister. -- We like Rifona a lot and
think she epitomizes all that's so treasured in the Fjord breed. -- A
Family Recreation Horse without equal.
RIFONA - 8 yrs. old
* Imported from Holland with "A Premie" rating.
* Well bred. Daughter of the Dutch Studbook stallion, Briggen. Dam's sire
is Brusvein, who was the #1, highest
rated stallion at Nordfjordhein in Norway the year purchased by the
Dutch Studbook.
* Rifona has two crosses to the Norwegian grey stallion, Gramann (1 pr. & 1
pr. for offspring) -
* Proven broodmare with three good foals. *** We had one of her sons
(Koriakin) here this summer as a consignment horse. He was 4 years old,
14.3 hands, a SUPERB mover, and a perfectly lovely horse to ride and handle.
He was purchased by a serious dressage rider.
* Very good training - She's a lovely, soft ride. Very willing with no
problems.
* Rifona has the temperament and attitude to make the Perfect Family
Horse.

The other mare, Lasaraleen, is a 5 yr. old with everything going for
er. --- She's extremely well-bred. Her sire is Ronaldo who is sired by
the Dutch Elite stallion, Tunar. Lasaraleen's dam is Ruth who is imported
from Holland, and sired by the Dutch Elite stallion, Myrstein ----- There
are only 3 Elite Stallions in Holland. This pedigree contains two of them.
We call this mare "Lass". -- Lass is wonderfully athletic with a big
stride, a forward attitude, a wonderful mouth, and excellent training all
through her life. -- Just before coming to us, she spent 6 weeks with a
Grand Prix rider, and believe me, it shows! -- Lass moves beautifully in a
lovely frame with her back rounded, and her hindquarters working well under
her. ----
**** Every time Lass is asked to halt, the halt is textbook perfect --
Absolutely square with hindquarters well under her, neck raised, and with a
soft jaw. ****
Something very special about this mare is how she moves so well and so
correctly both in the front and the back. Her shoulder movement is very
free allowing good reach and movement with the front legs. The action in
the hindquarters matches the freedom and quality of movement seen in the
front. -- This is very noticeable, and is not often seen.
This 5 yr. old mare is excellent quality, and for her conformation,
movement, athletic ability, temperament, and willingness, I believe she
would rate very high in an Evaluation. -- The only thing I can fault her
on is her head, which is certainly an OK head, but not as beautiful as it
might be. -- However, that is the ONLY thing I can fault this mare on. --
This is an extraordinary mare, particularly when you realize she's only 5
years old.
Very frankly, I would love to see this mare bred to Gjest. If there's any
rhyme or reason to genetics, the foal would have to be an outstanding
example of the breed.

recent, trained 6 weeks by Grand Prix
rider.
Movement - Absolutely correct. Wonderful reach both fore and
aft.

We have two other nice horses to offer at this time. They're full brother
and sister, 1 1/2 yearsand 2 1/2 years sired by Drafn, and out of a
wonderful mare sired by Caesar Halsnaes, a son of the well-known dressage
sire,
Rei-Halsnaes. --
ELLE - 1 1/2 years old. This filly is very beautiful and very very
quiet!!!! She has a lovely head, and a lovely temperament. She had
extensive training and handling all summer by our European interns. She
goes quietly in harness ground driving. She does everything anyone could
ask of a horse her age. -- Elle is a delightful filly that will bring
delight to her new owner.
CYNRIC - 2 1/2 yrs. old. This gelding is everyone's friend. He's charming
and so very friendly. He's also very big and very strong, and will be
capable of carrying almost anybody.
We really would like to sell this full brother and sister, Elle and Cynric,
as a pair. We're quite certain that they'll make a great driving pair.
They look very much alike. They both have a lot of substance. And they
both have wonderful temperaments, good character, and attitudes. -- These
horses are very good stock, have lovely temperaments, and have received the
best of training. A real headstart on a lot of pleasure and success!
