Hi all, We are glad to be back safe and sound from Libby, and reasonably started on unpacking. Sherrie and Shirley did their usual competent jobs, so everything went along smoothly. This in spite of the fact that every single time I asked Sherrie a question about something, she replied, "I don't have a clue...." Oh well. It was a thrill to see old friends and meet new ones. Congratulations are due to all who took the risk of competing or entering horses in the Evaluation. It is so important to support that program! I was especially thrilled to have Darryl bring Flotren out for everyone out West to see, finally! Having had two fantastic colts by Sadie and Flotren, and expecting another [filly, this time....], I was eager for others to see him strut his stuff. He's Mr. Charisma! Darryl was much relieved that I didn't bring Erlend to compete in the stallion class, I'm sure.... Breeders in the West are fortunate to have Flotren located in Montana now, with Don Torgenrud. It's a good match. I was awfully sad to see Darryl and Tim drive off to deliver Flotren, though, because of what his sale means for Old Hickory Farm and its future. Another chapter closed for Darryl and moving on to the next challenge. I wish him the best. We were delighted with Missy Yellow Yenna's Blue in the Evaluation, as she is only two years old. She did cause talk! Some didn't care for her pale color, but most folks liked her a lot. Yenna, the Little Princess, ate it all up. Windson, our grey son of Flotren and an Erlend daughter, Annalee, also did well, receiving a high Red. Another highlight for me was the Pie-eating Contest, but you'll have to seek elsewhere for the details, because I'm admitting nothing. Not a thing! Many congrats to Beth, Obey, and Sandy on their Gold Medallion. It was well deserved, as was the Versatility Award. You go girl! Erlend's feelings were hurt a bit, though, when he was left out of the list of Gold Medallion Stallions represented at Libby. I gave him a carrot, and he got better.... Finally, kudos to Lori A. for her super-fantastic dressage year! You go too, girl! Yenna and Windson's Eval photos are now up on the NFHR Pedigree pages. The photographers were super.
