Think about it.... Don't we get all sweaty and itchy in the summer, as 
opposed to the winter? Often just taking a brush or curry comb to your horse a 
few 
times a week, if not daily, will keep them from rubbing. I know tail 
brushing/combing is one of those "can-of-worms" subjects, but dead, shed hair 
if not 
combed out can also cause itching and rubbing. And of course don't forget the 
flies this time of year!
