I usually write in and tell of my gelding, O.H. Silas' accomplishments but
today I have to write in on my stallion, Fair Acres Ole. No, I have not
brought him to a show but yesterday I took him out with two of my boarders,
Amy and Eby on their mounts. I have not ridden Ole with another horse since
Feb. Sad to say, Ole is usually the last one I choose as I always have a
young one in training, or I take Silas. I also took Ole on trails he has not
been on in years. We got attacked by mosquitoes, it was just GROSS. I hate
bugs and I was ready to call it quits but Ole was being so good that I kept
onward.

We lead the way and I took us into the woods, there is a very muddy embankment
to cross the creek, not even a second look. Then we rode into fields and up
on ridges, then into more woods were you have to blaze your own trail and I
usually get us lost, it gets pretty tight in there. I didn't get us lost but
we did have to dismount to get over a fallen tree. (only way around).

It was just the best ride and Ole was a trooper the whole way. Never trying
anything stupid with the other mounts. Never spooking or looking at anything
funny, total confidence in that boy. He also can out trot any 16 hand horse.
Fjords really can move out can't they!

I just had to write because it just made me realize how wonderful Fjords are.
Now, I put in a LOT of work with Ole in his younger years and I know it has
paid off. Fjords don't just come so wonderful trained and especially
stallions. There are a lot of stallions out in the Fjord world, many are
trained very nice and well many are not. When considering breeding, I hope
everyone considers how willing that stallion is and not just his price tag.
Sure many are nice when they are in the pasture with mares or by themselves
but how nice are they when they have to work work work.?????

I'm bringing Ole today to Pat Holland in IL. I wanted to bring Ole to the
evaluation in La Crosse this Aug, but I have our raffle horse drawing that
weekend and can not be there, SO I got a bright idea to send him out for some
draft training. I run over my over feet with draft! Ole got his blue ribbon
in Conformation last year at the evaluation. Pat has taken several stallions
thru the evaluation and I know they will get along very well together. Pat
will also be riding Ole in the english intro. test. Ole has been shown in the
past but just been my trail buddy for years now. Sure they will get along fine
together BUT it's gonna be VERY strange around here without him. He is a 9 yr
old brown dun, stands 14.3hh and probably weighs in around 1200-1300 pounds.
I've had him since he was 5 months old. He's on the drafty side, Anvil's
Steinfinn X Fair Acres Kari he has the Queen, Rudaren and Orrjo lines. I'm
gonna miss the big guy!

Gonna stay a few days with Pat and shhhhh, don't tell, but I told my husband I
need to show Pat how I handle Ole, but in reality we're gonna ride/drive and
have fun with a lot of horses on Pat's farm!!!
