*** I had to laugh when I read this. I haven't seen 125 since I was 10 ;-) It 
is my observation that balance, not weight, makes a good rider. I have seen 
200+lb folks totally at one with their horses movements, and 100lb Twiggies 
bouncing around like a sack of potatoes. 


That comment reminds me that if you are heavier, it's better to use some
sort of mounting block or have someone hold down the right stirrup as the
saddle can move a little as you swing yourself up. 

*** I believe this is true for all saddles or sizes of rider. Especially with 
the less-withered Fjords, hauling yourself up with one stirrup can seriously 
upset the saddle. If I'm alone I use a Saddle Stabilizer. See a picture &
