I was just at my trainer's place where she has a large turn out area. She
has driving horses and Sunday is their "day off". She trains several breeds
at once and currently also has two Fjords. Today, she turned out all of the
geldings at once including the Fjords.

The day was glorious, one of those spring days that poets write about. The
horses, all being in good condition, were full of themselves and ran like
wild ponies over the sloping hills. The Fjords, however, kept to themselves.
They would run for a stretch with the Morgans and warmbloods and then circle
off and cavort just the two of them. The others would run around the hills
and circle back to join the Fjords. Everyone would playfully rear and
present their heels and then they would be off again, Except for the Fjords.

Is this typical? Do Fjords recognize themselves? Inquiring minds want to
know.
