Gosh, Bonnie! It sounds like Interior Alaska, the land of the BIG mosquito
(and the swarms of little nasty ones!) I use some of the 95% Deet
repellents on my clothes, and a bit on my skin, and have used a variety of
fly sprays on the horses, but lightly rubbing some 95% Deet ( Ben's,
Muskol, etc) over the surface of their hair after I have sprayed with the
horse fly sprays seems to work the best. I try not to get it on their skin,
but put a few drops of the concentrated stuff in my palms and lightly rub
over their hair. (then wash my hlands) I wear long sleeved shirts, etc. and
a hat!

Jean in sunny Fairbanks, Alaska, where the first mosquitos, the big slow
bombers, are out but not the little nasties.
