The first time I met a Fjord was after I had heard all these exultations
about what a great horse "Zeus" was and how reliable he was for beginners in
my natural horsemanship class. I didn't know Zeus was a Fjord, or even what
a Fjord was....when up came this light tan, compact, chunky horse with a
mohawk, and a forelock completely covering his head way past his eyes. I
laughed outloud in sheer delight at the sight of this life-sized "teddy
bear" of a horse! Once I read further about Fjords and their disposition, I
knew this was the right kind of horse for my novice self.
