Fat Fjords...need more work !!
Hooray for working horses!! I totally agree, Yasmine, and couldn't have said it better myself! I have two and board another, and both my mare and gelding love their work, and get a little sullen when they don't get worked (=enjoyed)! They are school horses, teaching kids and adults to ride, and it is so rewarding for them and for me! I am so lucky to have 2 Fjords (and an Appy and a POA) to call my co- workers! One of my favorite things is when my riders are ready to go out of the arena I know I can put them on either Biscuit or Nils and I ride my hubby's enormous Hanoverian, Spaten, and off we go, learning about balance on terrain, distances between horses (Spaten doesn't mind if they run into her rump), etc. It is really fun for all!

When I got my dear Biscuit she was plump, and her wonderful first owner referred to her dirt paddock as the Jenny Craig paddock! She arrived here and went to work, slowly, but definitely with purpose (a necessary part of any job). Her purpose is to teach riders. I call her my mall walker, because after just a few months of a lot of walk- and-some-trot lessons and a few walk-trot-canter lessons, she became svelt and muscled. She is happy and fit, and an excellent example of the breed! Nils came in a little better shape, but he too is firming up and looking grand, enjoying his work!

Horses need good jobs (just like people, dogs, and probably some cats and turtles!) to be healthy and happy!
Keep on moving.....
