I have considered steel toe boots for protection but the ones I have tried on don't seem too comfortable for walking around so I haven't gotten any yet. I'd think twice about getting steel toed boots for using around horses... They are great if you are a construction worker and drop a 20 lb sledge hammer on your foot, but I know of someone who lost a couple of toes when a 1000 lb horse collapsed the steel box on her boots. What you want is a good sturdy leather boot that will protect your foot from [some of] the damage a hoof will cause - not much will protect you from ANY damage, except watching where your horse's feet are at all times!
