At one point, my oldest mare appeared to have lice and after two treatments, was still scratching and the vet examined her, couldn't find any bugs at all, and said it was probably an allergy to molasses. but a few months later, I slowly reintroduced her regular feed back and she did fine. However, the addition of the molasses encouraged her to eat more and I think let me keep her a bit longer. Patty
