Different security models in flash player versions do you know what versions of Flash you have in each browser? Is the HTML that embeds the flash also in the same folder?

We are trying to post a webpage with a swf that plays an external flv file. The page is not over http, but rather fileshare (so the address is like \\ourserver\flvTest.html instead of http://www.something). I thought it might be a cross domain issue, but the flv is sitting right next to the swf. The flv loads in IE6, but does not load in IE8. Any ideas why? This sort of thing baffles me.
