I just noticed that if I output the path of the swf to a TextField, I get differences between IE6 and IE8:
IE6: file://\\johnfilep31\globalcom$\FM_Action_W7\flv test\tester.swf IE8: file://johnfilep31/globalcom$/FM_Action_W7/flv%20test/tester.swf It seems IE8 treats it as a web resource instead of a file share.
