You should report this as a bug/oversight to the FreeDV developers. There are 256 available com ports under Windows. Seems sort of short sighted to only allow 2.7% of them to be addressable by their software. :-)

All,

PTT is now working with my Flex-3000 and Flex-1500. I use VSP Manager from K5FR.
In my case, FreeDV did not like the high numbered COM ports I had selected for
PTT control. Specifiying a COM port number higher than COM7 at the FreeDV end of
the pair did not work. I ended up using COM7 <--> COM37. FreeDV now is happily
asserting COM7 DTR (inverted) for PTT, and PowerSDR is looking for PTT on COM37
DTR. Previously I was trying to use COM13 <--> COM33.

Thanks for your input. Yes, your setting in Flex CAT is correct, just as I have
mine. :-) The whole PTT issue and others are being worked. Look for changes
in forthcoming releases.

One of the things I noticed when I set mine up was....picking the Guru's brain
a bit....on the PTT selection you want to make sure that, if you selected both
RTS and DTR in the PSDR form, you unselect the DTR, otherwise you will stick it
in txmit. In my PSDR CAT Control Tab, the PTT Control has The RTS block checked
and the DTR block unchecked. Jim

I have worked at least 15 Flex radio users running FreeDV who had no trouble
with PTT. Four of the alpha testers use Flex radios. Just select the VAC
port and click on RTS = +V. I would highly recommend watching the quick
start video on FreeDV setup authored by a Flex 5ka user.
