Bob is referring to the peak power meter.  With the amp calibration
routine, a constant tone is produced and the Forward Power is
calculated.

>From the SDR1000 PA on SSB, if you are properly modulating the radio,
you should see an average power of between 5-40 watts (measured on an
external watt meter) depending on your voice characteristics .  If you
have a true peak reading watt meter (most are not) you should see a peak
reading of 100 watts +/- 20 watts.  Disclaimer: Your mileage may vary.
