Consider getting a second computer. Cases, motherboards, and suitable  
processors are pretty darned cheap.

One thing I would do if I were Flex would be to come up with a  
hardware compatibility list, i.e. a list of known motherboard/ 
processor and I/O card combinations known to work 100% and then the  
specific software setup for that particular combination.

Of course the safe route is to buy a 5000C but I think it is great  
that Flex is offering the 5000A to people willing to hack to save  
money. To that end we can build a hardware compatibility list.
