Note that with the latest firmware and/or driver (not sure which), the
device name changed. This caused PowerSDR to not want to talk to it. We
have since addressed this and the fix is in PowerSDR v1.16.1.

Thanks for the thoughts. Maybe someone else can chip in here. I have already
downloaded the latest firmware for the Presonus.

Al,

Unfortunately, Windows makes it just about impossible to change any IRQs due
to Plug-n-Play. You have to physically mode the Firewire card to a different
bus slot to get the IRQ to possibly change. The problem may be an ASIO
driver conflict and if that is the case, then adding an additional Firewire
or changing it's IRQ probably will not make any difference.

I know that the Personus can be a bit "quirky" and this may be one of the
quirks. I no longer have a Personus to test it with. Maybe someone else on
the Reflector is using a SDR1K with a Firebox and a F5K on the same computer
can add something to help get through the lock ups.

I know with the 5000, I brought up the Presonus box and its control panel
seemed to be happy. I did not start any Flex software for the Presonus at
this point. I then fired up the 5000 and the quad core just hung up before
the flex software got through its start up. Had to do a hard restart. This
happened several times on both machines. I even tried using the second
firewire port on the 5000 and that did not work either. Should I buy a
second firewire card? I also saw someone else on this reflector talking
about IRQs and firewire cards. Is there some setup stuff I should look at?
Thanks for all the help

That might work, but without know exactly what the error is, it is hard to
say if that will defiantly fix it or not.

Will it work if either the FLEX-5000 or the FA-66 is turned off on either
PC?

Back when I had my 5000 and 1000 running on the same firewire card on a dual
core machine, it worked fine. That is with my 1000 using an Edirol FA-66.
Since then the 1000 is on the dual core and the 5000 on a quad core. Now
when I try to use a Presonus Firebox and Softrock with either machine,
neither machine wants to have anything to do with the Presonus Firebox.
However the Presonus Firebox works fine on my laptop with a PCMCIA to
firewire card. Do I need another dedicated firewire card on the other
machines?
Thanks

See my comments below. But to be sure, I'd get Eric's recommendation.

Can I run multiple instances of PowerSDR on the same computer?
[Tim] Yes, but it is dependent on the types of radios you are using. You
can currently run a FLEX-5000 and an SDR-1000 together without any problems
as long as the programs are in separate folders using separate databases.
Multiple FLEX-5000s have the issue regarding enumerating the devices on the
Firewire bus and getting the right radio associated with the correct
PowerSDR instance and the correct version of the ASIO driver. I understand
this is being worked on for the upcoming FLEX-3000 specific release of
PowerSDR and that should be applicable to using multiple FLEX-5000s
connected to the same computer/Firewire host adapter.

What is the impact of changing radios per instance of PowerSDR?
[Tim] Syncing the EEPROM data from the radio with the PowerSDR database
associated with the instance running.

Will it sense the sn change and replace the eeprom data?
[Tim] That is the way it should work.

Just checking before I try.
thanks
