Occasional long duration DPCs in the 1500 us range is about the max you want to
have. If they are not frequent, then you have nothing to worry about. If they
are frequent, increase the Firewire driver operation mode to SafeMode 2 and
start hunting down which hardware component is responsible. Network cards and
disk controller are the primary culprits. Sometime BIOS upgrades fix the
problems too.

Subject: [SPAM] Re: [Flexradio] How to force IRQ's (Question)

Just out of curiosity, how much latency when running the DPC checker is too
much. Mine usually runs about 180 usec but once in a while it gets as high as
1100 usec. I'm just looking for a number and a correlation to buffer size
setting and sample rate.
Right now I'm running 96000 with a 2048 buffer and things seem pretty good.

Mark,

To look at what IRQ's are shared

Control Pane>> System Properties>>Hardware>>Device Manager

View
Resources by connection

Interrupt request brings up a list which shows what is on what IRQ.

To look at what your Delays are like

Launch Flex Driver ICON looks like a Computer with a FIREWIRE SYMBOL (Get
the driver from the Flex Site if you do not have it, latest version)

Global Settings (Third Button at top from Right)

Click Enable DPC Latency Checker

Let run for 5 minutes and you should see what your latency is doing.

Hope that helps.
