My problem of very hi floor noise turned out to be a bad case of level
calibration. Iam asking for some info about the calibration procedure. Iam
using a elecraft XG-1 which was calibrated to a HP gen.
?? The manual says
?set the gen to a signal of? -73db but no less than -30db above the noise
floor.?? The XG-1 according to the manual has the output fixed at -73 db at
7040.000 khz.?
the flex manual says send this signal to the rig so it is in the center of the
filter pass band then enter the frequency and signal level ,which in this case
is is 7.039000 with the signal in the pass band of the filter and the level
would be the -73db as specked by the xg-1 as output level? Correct?
???? I entered the 7.03900 and the -73db numbers into the level calb page and
hit the start button. When finished the noise floor went back to s1?? it was at
s8 all the time.
?????? Is this the correct way to do this calibration,if not please point out
what I did not do correctly.
thanks for any help on this.
