Forgive a dumb newby question please guys, but I am having difficulty getting off first base. I have an SDR 1000 with FA-66 and a hot quad core PC running XP Pro SP2 on a dedicated partition for Power SDR.
After getting most of the system working I am left with two persistent problems: I can't interface a microphone via the FA-66 input; and, I can't interface a paddle key via a PC Com port. My system works fine in the digital modes using HRD and DM780. The results are fantastic, so most of the rig and software set up is fine. It is the same for all versions of Power SDR. The first problem seems to be that the XP driver somehow does not mate properly with XP. In control panel (sounds) I can get audio out of the FA-66 OK but nothing through the mike. In the control panel Volume Tab it shows Edirol FA66 selected but the control is blanked out. Voice recording does not work at all. I am using a cheap PC mike that works OK with the built in sound card on the PC motherboard (Asus P5Q) . On the Paddle problem the com port is working but there is no reaction to the paddles when wired up according to the SDR 1000 manual. I note that there are no +volts involved here, just earth switching. Could it be that the resistance in the cable is too much. This is so frustrating. I thought I was going to have problems setting up the digital modes but not SSB and CW. Any ideas?
