Hank, I hate it that you are having PC issues. I know it can be very frustrating. Especially if you received some advise that was not fully vetted, but I don't think that at the time of Orlando show, the actual PC requirements for the FLEX-1500 were fully understood since the software wasn't even ready at that point. Even now, with having to use Window's audio drivers rather than the FLEX-1500 specific streaming USB driver that is under development, it is hard to say what will and will not work properly for specific modes of operation.
You said: "It appears that you need a Dual Core or a Core 2Duo ..... but that is never addressed on the Flex pages." Actually it is addressed in the KB. The Following KB article outlines the recommendations for running PowerSDR and addresses the use of laptops specifically. http://kc.flex-radio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50063.aspx -Tim -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of hank k8dd Sent: Friday, August 06, 2010 3:36 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Re.: New blog entry on telling if your computer willwork with SDRs I read through that all. Excellent and with some programs to download to check your PC. One thing that is very difficult to find on the Flex pages is: "what kind of PC will I need to operate a FlexRadio Systems SDR?" Looking strictly at using the Flex-1500, the present day Netbooks won't do it. (I kinda already figured that out!). And your basic 2 GHz Pentium 4 won't do it - it's well under 400 us, but it will not transmit quality CW any better (or worse) than the Netbook. It appears that you need a Dual Core or a Core 2Duo ..... but that is never addressed on the Flex pages. So .... at Orlando the folks at the booth told me that a good ole Aspire One netbook would work with a 1500 on CW & SSB, but probably not on the digital modes. That does not appear to be the case, and would have saved me quite a bit of time ..... K8DD ----- Original Message ----- From: "T.H.
