Have you turned off Windows Search in Administrative Tools->Services (set
Windows Search to disabled)? You can still do searches, it just might take a
seconf more to accomplish but this is a real disruptive part of Windows.
Also, set Windows Update to 'do not check at all' as when its downloading
data you could be disrupted. Also, did you mention whether you are running
an anti-virus product? If so, which one?
