I know that Cool n Quiet and the Intel Speed Stepper are not recommended by
Flex and others for this near-real time audio process. I do use Cool n Quiet
with a 4 core AMD Phenom II 955. This adds about 50 us to my DPC latency. At
the same time, it keeps the CPU temp down to about 51C while all radio-related
programs are running, and 38-40C when the radio isn't running. This in turn
keeps my fans running in their quiet rpm ranges. If I turn off Cool n Quiet, I
pick up another 5-8C or more, and the fans rev higher to save the CPU. Temp is
not as important with Intel CPU's- they can withstand 70C or more. AMD
processors, however, shut down at 62C and scale back at 60C.. > Date: Sat,
