Ron,

It appears that I have JT65-HF working with my Flex-5000, although I have not
yet made a contact. I left the radio running overnight on 7076 KHz and it
decoded a couple of dozen signals (about half DX) with signal reports ranging
from -5 dB to -23dB. The transmitter also appears to be working, but I did not
have time to try for some contacts last night.

Thanks for your help and thanks to others who have offered assistance.

Ed, K0KC

Ed,

Well seems I can't get to my PSDR settings without a radio connected.
The Flex Wiki has a good setup procedure for JT65-HF but it's down.
Don't change any of your audio sample rates, leave them where they are
for DM780 and you should be good to go with JT65-HF....I don't change any
settings going from JT65-HF to MMTTY/N1MM to fldigi and it works
fine. The only thing to watch is port settings for audio in JT65-HF and ptt.
Also you may want to get DXlabs Commander for frequency information
from the radio, you don't need it to control the radio just QRG info. There's
another helper program available if you plan on doing much JT65, JTAlert,
that will keep track of a lot of things, also direct log to DXkeeper and a few
other loggers I think. Let me know if I can help with anything else please.

Ron

Subject: [Flexradio] JT65-HF

Colleagues,

I am planning to "get my feet wet" with JT65-HF using my Flex-5000 this
weekend. I use DM780 for some of the other digital modes and I have had good
results with a sampling rate of 8K or a multiple of 8K such as 48K for my
settings. I do not have my computer here in front of me at work, but I seem to
recall having to set the audio sampling rate in Windows 7 from its default to
8K as well.

In reading the documentation for JT65-HF, I have only seen references to a
sample rate of 11.025K. If someone on this list has used the JT65-HF software,
is there a way to modify the sample rate to 8K in JT65-HF so that I do not have
to fiddle with all of my settings every time that I want to use this mode?

I also realize that an accurate time of day is everything in decoding JT65
signals, so I wonder if anyone has a recommendation for a little applet that
updates the computer time on a frequent basis and which runs under Windows 7.

Thanks in advance!

Ed, K0KC
