Here is the problem that may negate your attempt to automate the switching
process. You see, WSPR is broken. WSPR doesn't use the sound-device name
but rather the sound-device enumeration in order to select the sound
device. The problem is, the enumeration changes any time you add or remove
a sound device. Have a set of USB computer mic/headphones? Plug them in and
negate the sound-card settings in WSPR. Same with turning on or off the
1500. The only solution is to make sure you check and reset the sound-card
settings manually every time you start WSPR and every time you add or
remove a device. Given that, you may as well just plan to touch the
settings and not bother with multiple config files.
