For those considering an amplifier for their 1500, I've found the Ten-Tec 405 to fit the bill quite nicely. With the 1500, it delivers 30-50 clean watts. All it requires is 12 volts at 8 amps, and is quite compact. It's got both a power meter and an SWR meter, and has a band switch for 10-80 meters. There is a matching power supply, but you don't need it. I found mine at a hamfest for $125 this summer.

Sorry if this subject has already been covered, but I just started Flexing a few weeks ago.
