Hi Gedas

Yes, the sound is very good, almost as good as my old tube Hallicrafters Skyrider SX-28 receiver, built in 1940. :

I use a stereo Hi Fi amplifier with my 5000A and my 1500 and the audio quality is very good indeed.

Brian's explanation about signal overload seems to be the problem. I don't normally use the NB with AM. It just happened to be on when I tuned in the AM BC band and I noticed the distortion on strong signals.

Hi Terry. I use my 5000A on the SWL bands all the time and the audio quality is to die for ! It is really amazing at how nice it is over a nice set of speakers. I have not encountered any distortion, regardless of how strong the signals are coming in. I do not use a HB on HF, I'll have to try that. I am now wondering what is causing your audio to be messed up?

Light travels faster than sound..
This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Subject: [Flexradio] Noise blanker in AMl mode

The thread on NB in digital mode brought to mind a question about using the NB in AM mode. When I turn on the NBs AM broadcast band signal are distorted. There is also distortion when using AM and listening to SW in other bands. Is this normal or is something being overloaded?
