Windows 8 does have a built in anti virus program named "Windows
Defender". Note that this is a re-write of the old "Windows Defender"
that existed under previous versions of Windows and it incorporates
"Microsoft Security Essentials" including the daily updates. You can
disable it but there is no need to do so, it doesn't cause any problems
with Flex radios.

Hi Dudley - I will file a helpdesk request. The Surface Pro has only one USB
3.0 port that seems to be working with other USB devices - I am not using a hub
so the Flex 1500 is the only USB device connected. I am not running an
anti-virus - stock windows 8 and I’m not aware of a way to stop what ever anti
virus is built in - if any. Not sure what enough time would be - 15 minutes
enough? The FlexRadio USB Kernel Driver shows up in the device manager but
when I power on the radio the radio itself is never listed in the device
manager per the KB I mention below.
