Nobody believes the bug is really fixed - but it is quite effectively hidden
by some other improvements at different places (probably speedups in the AGP
code, reduced buffer sizes and so on). I assume it will show up again some
time ....

As far as I know it is not documented anywhere. But if you read through the
mailing list archive of 'dri-devel' from autumn 2002 to spring 2003 (lots of
SPAM in between) then you'll find quite a few postings from me documenting
the lockup with FlightGear (that cost me quite a few hours to figure out!!).

Yes. I usually make a backup copy of /usr/X11R6/ (to /usr/.X11R6/ ;-)
Afterwards I do a 'make world' in a copy of the DRI CVS tree and simply
install the result _over_ my current X11R6 setup. I also do create current
kernel modules from the DRI CVS by creating an appropriate kernel patch.
This way I can avoid much of the trouble you encounter after rebuilding the
kernel - this depends on where you get your kernel from,

Martin.
