I talked with Curt about removing WeatherCM over a year ago, but I didn't want to go through with it in case the module sprang back to life. In the event, it clearly causes a lot of confusion for users and still isn't functional, as far as I can tell.
As part of the FlightGear Codebase Weight Reduction Program, I'd like to remove WeatherCM from the CVS later today. I've already removed all #ifdefs and other references in my local copy and am doing a complete rebuild after a distclean to make sure I haven't broken anything.
Before I do this, does anyone currently have code that depends on WeatherCM?
I would typically err on the side of keeping the code in the code base, but as others have pointed out, this code has sat for quite a while (2+ years?) without being maintained and without ever really being fully integrated into FlightGear. Even if it is removed, it will live forever in the CVS archives if someone ever wants to resurrect it.
