Ideally, all the steps that I went through should be combined into one program: converting *.pdf to *.dxf (using pstoedit), converting the resulting splines into surfaces, extruding some of these surfaces into 3D for the buildings, and deleting unwanted data such as texts. Of course, the most important part would be cross-referencing vertices with actual ground elevation data. > Where do you get the data from?
