But if you google a bit you fill find other applications using OpenAL, which calculate the Doppler effect (at least at windows) for themself. This confirms my suspicion, that it is a bug in OpenAL. But due to known problems in OpenAL1.0 this could be a relict of older time. To read the OpenAL bugtracker you need a login. > Once you put this, well, 'hack' into FlightGear, will there still be > someone who reports this bug to OpenAL, monitor their development and > remove the hack from FlightGear once the doppler feature is fixed in > OpenAL ? > First I need the feedback, who else has this bug. Then I will report it to OpenAL. You can switch of this patch, which isn't a hack, by a simple #define Probably there is another bug in the Doppler code of OpenAL (strange sounds near the speed of sound), this should be fixed by this patch, too. But I won't wait for the bug fixed in OpenAL, if the way to get realistic Doppler effect is as simple as it is. > Martin. >
