Sure enough. But if we take a migration into consideration, we sould probably go the GIT route. Although I'm not too experienced with git when it comes to committing things to it, from the git pull side, it looks pretty nice. I don't know however how it performs with binary data, which would be nice to know for flightgear-data. IMHO, the current solution as read-only is a good way to test it from one side and maybe later move more stuff to it.
