I don't aprove anyone to update my models to use png instead of rgb 
since it I still use an old version af ac3d that only supports rgb files.

I see little use for changing to png anyhow since it only saves some 
bytes when the base package is extracted but it adds loading speed since 
the file type is really simple (and set up to be used for textures).
The ziped, gzipped or arj'ed base package will not be much smaller 
either way.
