That's of course possible and common. And Knoppix is good for that, but

With a remastered version of Knoppix, possibly. But stock Knoppix doesn't
contain FlightGear. So you'd need to install Knoppix from the CD to the
harddisk (not just boot it from the CD), and then install FlightGear.
Shouldn't be hard for an experienced computer user, but it's not simple
either. You may have to shrink the Windows partition on the harddisk
and creat a new one. There are tools for that, but I'm not sure they are
on the Knoppix CD.

Where do you have that from? I don't think it's contained. And even if so,
it's not very likely that it'll work with hardware acceleration.

Good luck! If it doesn't work, you can still download a more complete Linux
distribution (for free) that is easier to install, has re-partition tools
and even FlightGear included. But still it wouldn't necessarily support
your 3D hardware.  :-/
