OK, guys... I wouldn't say it's ready for prime-time, but if you want to play it, checkout the 'cairo-device' branch on my fltk repo at git://git.tuxfamily.org/gitroot/non/fltk.git
Run 'configure' with --enable-cairo and --enable-cairoext to use it. Should work as a drop in replacement for plain FLTK 1.3. I got rid of fltk_cairo, as it was mostly useless. Opening child windows may make things disappear. Most of the example programs should work. Linestyles are not fully implemented.
