Ralph,
I did see your veto. I did resolve that by adding this patch. If this patch is
committed, the build works on Windows. That was the reason you gave for the
veto. I don't understand how this patch would increase the work for anyone
working on FLUME-1174. FLUME-1174 is meant to make the build work on Windows
and not to provide feature parity with Windows as it is clearly stated in the
name of the ticket: "Attempt to build Flume v1.1.0 on Windows 7 x64 fails."
Once this patch is committed, the build reaches the same state as it was
before.
If you want feature parity on Windows, that is a different discussion
altogether. You can bring it up on the dev lists and we can work towards that.
As of now, I cannot see one place on the flume website where it is stated that
Flume supports Windows.
